Babies’ salivation usually starts at 3-6 months of age and can last till 18-24 months. Salivation of a healthy baby up to this age is considered a temporary problem and does not require any treatment. However, if saliva falls even after the age of 4 years, the baby might have some problems. In that case, it is recommended to consult with your doctor.

Salivation is considered to be normal till the age of 6 years if the baby has any kind of physical or mental disability. If saliva falls even after 6 years, then a doctor’s advice should be taken.

As the facial muscles and nervous system of babies do not mature at this age, they cannot swallow properly, resulting in salvation. Excessive salvation can be seen during a common cold, coughing, or when new teeth appear.

Salvation in babies is not a physiological problem, but if you observe excessive salvation even after a certain period of age, then you should consult with your doctor categorically.
